The finals of the 2026 CHINT Cup Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition took place on October 25 during the World Young Scientists Summit (WSS), bringing together emerging innovators from leading universities in China and around the world.
This year's competition featured three tracks: Smart Electrical Systems, Green Development and Technological Innovation. Participants represented institutions including Stanford University, the National University of Singapore, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. After a competitive selection process, 23 teams advanced to the finals to showcase their innovative projects and entrepreneurial ideas.
Turning Innovative Ideas into Industry Solutions
As the energy transition and digital transformation reshape industries, collaboration between academia and industry is essential to accelerating technological progress.
During the finals, the teams presented projects spanning renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen, power electronics, advanced materials, intelligent sensing and carbon reduction. University experts, industry specialists and investment professionals evaluated the projects based on technological innovation, market potential and commercialization feasibility.
As the competition organizer's corporate partner, CHINT is committed to helping promising technologies move beyond the laboratory and into real-world applications. By opening up R&D resources, industrial application scenarios and incubation opportunities, CHINT supports young innovators in developing solutions that address practical industry challenges.
CHINT Spark Program: Empowering Young Scientists
In conjunction with the World Young Scientists Summit, CHINT Group and the World Young Scientists Federation jointly launched the CHINT Spark Program, connecting young scientists with critical technical challenges from industry.
Through a challenge-driven approach, selected research teams can access dedicated research funding and resources for technology development, industrial validation and project incubation. At this year's event, five teams presented their research achievements and experiences in industry collaboration.
The initiative reflects CHINT's commitment to strengthening industry–academia–research collaboration and accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into practical solutions.
Building an Open Innovation Ecosystem
CHINT's innovation ecosystem extends beyond the competition itself, bringing together universities, research institutions, investors and industry partners to support talent development and technology commercialization.
The impact is already visible. A team that won the top award in the 2025 competition reported that the platform helped it establish industry partnerships and advance its project toward commercialization. By the end of 2025, the team had secured nearly RMB 20 million in angel financing.
Looking ahead, CHINT will continue to leverage the CHINT Cup and CHINT Spark Program to foster young talent, advance technological innovation and support the energy transition.
