As renewable energy regulations evolve, digitalization is becoming increasingly important for photovoltaic (PV) plant operators seeking to ensure grid compliance while improving operational efficiency.
In Civita Castellana, Lazio, Italy, a 1 MW utility-scale PV plant needed to meet the latest ARERA regulatory requirements and the CEI 0-16 standard for medium-voltage grid-connected installations, while enhancing monitoring and control capabilities.
To address these needs, CHINT supplied the prefabricated substation and the Power Plant Controller (PPC), supported by Urbana CCI technology, alongside the cloud platform. The prefabricated substation integrates medium-voltage switchgear, a step-up transformer and low-voltage switchboards within a shelter-type enclosure, providing a ready-to-connect solution for the plant’s medium-voltage grid connection. Meanwhile, the PPC and cloud platform enable data collection, real-time monitoring, plant control and regulatory compliance.
By combining power infrastructure with digital control and monitoring capabilities, the solution helps the plant meet grid connection requirements, improve operational visibility, enhance diagnostics and streamline maintenance. It also provides an integrated approach to managing plant performance and supporting long-term operational efficiency.
This project demonstrates CHINT’s ability to combine electrical equipment and digital technologies into practical, integrated solutions, helping renewable energy operators navigate evolving grid requirements and maximize the value of their solar assets.
