In the mountainous Soran–Khlefan area of Iraq, where access to the municipal grid is limited or non-existent, we implemented a comprehensive off-grid solar street lighting solution to enhance visibility inside tunnels and along surrounding mountain roads. The project comprised the supply and installation of more than 20 solar-powered lighting poles, each supported by rugged low-voltage protection and control equipment including MCCBs, MCBs, and contactors. The system was engineered for quick deployment, dependable performance, and minimal maintenance in a remote, harsh environment.
Key benefits:
- Fully off-grid: independent solar power eliminates reliance on municipal supply
- Rapid rollout: no trenching or cable laying required, minimizing disruption and project time
- Low maintenance: robust components and simplified system design reduce upkeep in remote locations
- Built for extremes: dependable performance in high temperatures and dusty, sandy environments
Beyond enhanced illumination, the project increases road safety, supports local mobility, and introduces sustainable, resilient infrastructure tailored to challenging, hard-to-reach settings.
