SMG-WSR Smart Gateway

The CHINT SMG-WSR Smart Gateway is an advanced Open Protocol Gateway that enables seamless communication between CHINT smart devices and third-party IoT platforms. Supporting Wi-Fi upstream via MQTT and RS-485 downstream via Modbus RTU, it allows real-time data exchange, remote monitoring, and control of NB2 smart circuit breakers and other Modbus devices. With plug-and-play installation, open communication protocols, and cloud connectivity, the SMG-WSR offers reliable integration for smart power management and energy monitoring systems.

What is the main function of the SMG-WSR Smart Gateway?

The SMG-WSR acts as an Open Protocol Gateway that converts Modbus RTU signals from downstream devices into MQTT data for transmission to cloud or local servers. It enables users to build custom IoT energy management systems.

 

What communication protocols does it support?

It supports MQTT (Wi-Fi) for upstream communication and Modbus RTU (RS-485) for downstream, allowing smooth data exchange with smart circuit breakers and other field devices.

 

How is the SMG-WSR configured?

Configuration is done through a web interface accessible by connecting to the gateway’s hotspot “SMG-OPEN-XXXX” and entering 192.168.4.1 in a browser. Users can set network credentials and server details for MQTT communication.

 

What kind of devices can connect to it?

The gateway is compatible with NB2 Smart Circuit Breakers and other Modbus RTU devices, supporting automatic device detection and data collection.

 

What kind of data does it collect and transmit?

It gathers voltage, current, energy consumption, and operational status data from connected smart breakers and sends this to the configured MQTT platform for monitoring, control, and analytics.
