CHINT Held Back to School Campaign in Ghana for Local Education

DEC 13, 2024

Recently, CHINT partnered with the Rotary Club of Tema Community 25 to Embark on a community service themed “The Back-to-School” Campaign. This event was well attended by CHINT employees, community members, medias, parents, teachers, and students. The beneficiary schools were Manhean TMA Basic A, B and C in Tema East Municipal in Ghana. The campaign was centered around “Read, Learn, Achieve”, which sought to promote basic education and literacy among basic school kids in deprived districts of Ghana. A total of 1,200 students took part in the reading campaign. Through these activities, they would develop interest in reading, which is essential to help them build a strong literacy foundation and is also critical to success in other subjects.

During the campaign, we encouraged reading habits among students, donated books to under-resourced schools, and motivated and inspired students through tutoring and creative activities.

  • Books Donation: We donated 1,000 reading books to 3 basic schools in Ghana, benefiting approximately 1,200 students.
  • Reading Activities: We organized storytelling and group reading activities in schools and gave book prizes to students who excelled in their reading lessons, with a total of 30 students receiving book prizes.
  • Creative Arts: We organized poetry, essay writing and drawing competitions for students to encourage creativity and students showed great enthusiasm for the creative arts program.
  • Reading Mentorship: We led interactive class sections to discuss with the young pupils the benefits of reading and shared their personal stories with them.

Mr Letsa who is the Country Manager for CHINT Global said in his remark that “It is very meaningful to work with multiple partners to help improve students’ reading skills. And as a socially responsible business organisation, we will continue to support our local communities wherever we operate”. CHINT will actively support education in the future to create a better world for all.

CHINT actively embraces boundless multiculturalism through global actions. In 2024, CHINT carried out Ramadan activities in six overseas countries, donating CHINT off-grid photovoltaic systems, necessities, Ramadan meal boxes, etc., to help regional development in the form of local public welfare; In 2024, CHINT took part in the Women Conference during the famous International Electrical Expo in Mexico City, where CHINT female employee participated in the panel of “The art of negotiation: Strategies for success in each situation” where 6 women discussed and shared knowledge about this topic, empowering women with practical actions;
