Overview

CHINT partnered with a leading global automotive supplier to enhance the safety and reliability of their EV charger components. To address the high short-circuit currents typical of charging equipment, CHINT introduced a cascading protection solution combining NM8N MCCBs and RCBOs, increasing system short-circuit capacity from 6kA to 30kA—without upgrading terminal device ratings. This delivered reliable protection with optimized cost and system flexibility.

•High-breaking requirement: The system needed to withstand short-circuit currents above 15.4kA, demanding robust and reliable protection

•Maintenance complexity: Fuse replacement and branch-level protection posed challenges for operation and service efficiency

•Cabinet space constraints: The solution had to fit within limited cabinet dimensions without compromising performance

•Urgency of validation: The customer required rapid solution verification to meet a tight delivery schedule
