Overview

To support the power infrastructure upgrade of ARUBA’s IT3 Global Cloud Data Center in Ponte San Pietro (BG), Italy, CHINT supplied key transformer equipment for the 132/15 kV substation. As one of the largest data centers in Italy, IT3 operates 24/7 with high security and requires continuous, stable power delivery. The project involves supplying and installing two three-phase 132kV 60MVA ONAN-type power transformers, forming the backbone of the medium-voltage power distribution system.

Solutions

CHINT delivered oil-immersed 132/15 kV 60 MVA ONAN power transformers (TR1 & TR2), designed for outdoor installation and natural air cooling. These transformers are connected to the 132 kV high-voltage grid and feed into a 15 kV medium-voltage network, ensuring high-efficiency and stable power supply for data center operations.

To meet ARUBA's demanding operational standards and national grid regulations, CHINT transformers were engineered to:

  • Withstand outdoor environmental conditions
  • Resist harmonic distortion from the power network
  • Comply with TERNA’s strict technical specifications
  • Maintain low noise levels and high mechanical protection
  • Include temperature monitoring and control systems to ensure safe and reliable performance under continuous load
