CHINT Won the Bid for the VSR Project in Central Europe

AUGUST 7, 2024

Central Europe, as the engine of the European economy, is the core area of industry and the hub connecting the ancient and the emerging. As an active participant in the Belt and Road Initiative, the infrastructure of Central Europe has been continuously improved, and the urbanization process has been accelerating. However, at the same time, the scale and complexity of the power grid have been increasing, and the large-scale access of long-distance transmission lines and new energy has led to reactive power imbalance and frequent voltage fluctuations in the power system, bringing new challenges to the maintenance of grid stability for Central Europe.

CHINT Global team, in combination with business needs, launched the 400kV/200Mvar VSR with large capacity and high voltage. Relying on efficient multi-party collaboration capabilities, professional and innovative R & D capabilities, as well as rich overseas implementation experience, CHINT Global team create customized and agile response services for customers and ultimately won a power grid project in Central Europe. The winning of this project is not only a major breakthrough for CHINT in technology and service innovation, but also injects strong power into the stable operation and sustainable development of the Central Europe power grid.

VSR

Product Highlights

1. Reactive Power Compensation, Improving Transmission Capacity

VSR can effectively compensate for the capacitive charging current of long-distance transmission lines, significantly improve the power factor, reduce the transmission loss of reactive power in the power grid, and save a considerable amount of operating costs.

2. Voltage Regulation, Ensuring Power Quality

VSR can quickly respond to changes in grid load and faults, stabilize the grid voltage, reduce voltage fluctuations and flicker, greatly improve the power supply quality of the grid, and enhance the power usage experience.

3. Limiting Short-Circuit Current, Enhancing Grid Reliability

The commissioning of the VSR will effectively protect the power grid equipment from the impact of excessive short-circuit current, prolong the service life of the equipment, reduce maintenance costs and the risk of power outages, and improve the reliability and safety of the power grid.

4. Accommodating New Energy, Facilitating Green Transformation

VSR is conducive to smoothing the power fluctuations brought by the integration of new energy, improving the power grid’s accommodation capacity for new energy, promoting the large-scale application of renewable energy, and facilitating the green transformation of the energy structure.

Application Scenarios

CHINT, as a global provider of smart energy solutions, has extensive exports of power transformers and reactors, covering 120 countries and regions. They not only fully comply with the standards and technical requirements of multiple countries but also can adapt to the diverse demands of extreme environments such as extreme cold and hot weather.

The variable shunt reactor precisely targets the customer group and can be used in scenarios such as long-distance power transmission, industry, new energy power generation access, and urban power grids.

The sound of camel bells tells the legendary stories of ancient trade; the long Silk Road composes a new chapter of win-win cooperation.Under the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative”,  CHINT has accumulated rich experience in the long-term cultivation of overseas markets, and has always taken concrete actions to unswervinglg implement the concept of “customer-centered and market-oriented”.It is believed that construction and upgrading of power grids in Central Europe, just like the friendship between China and Europe, will be stably and sustainably, illuminating the road of common development!
